Ngāwhā Innovation & Enterprise Park will host the NZCPA 2026 Annual Conference on 5th June, bringing together growers, researchers and industry leaders to explore the future of specialty coffee in Aotearoa.
Following a successful inaugural event, this year’s programme offers deeper insight into the opportunities and challenges of building a high-value coffee sector in New Zealand.
5th June - Conference
As global demand for premium, origin-led coffee continues to rise, New Zealand is well positioned to define its place. The conference will focus on building knowledge, capability and connections across the emerging industry.
Attendees can expect:
Expert-led sessions and industry updates
Insights from keynote speaker Kraig Lee (Kona Farm Direct, Hawaii)
Updates on Northland crop trials and global research
Discussions on plant varietals, processing and value-chain opportunities
Networking and open discussion throughout the day
Kraig Lee will share over 30 years of experience in specialty coffee, including lessons from operating in a high-cost environment and advanced processing techniques to enhance product value.
6th June - Field Day
The event continues with a Field Day at Simons NZ Coffee, Doubtless Bay, hosted by Doug Simons.
The on-farm visit will showcase a 4,500-plant coffee operation, alongside insights into agronomy, environmental challenges and value-chain ownership. Attendees will also hear from agricultural technician Colin Partridge, with practical advice for improving productivity.
