FNDC Extraordinary Meeting: Early in the month, Far North District Council held their Extraordinary Meeting here at the park, which saw over 150 attendees, including key iwi leaders and supporters and rangatahi. More than half a dozen different speakers addressed the council and during the meeting the 10 councillors voted unanimously, reaffirming a decision to continue with their Ngā Tai o Tokerau Māori ward.
The public gallery erupted into the waiata Ngā Puawai o Ngāpuhi with rangatahi showing strong support throughout creating a powerful atmosphere of unity and commitment to the region’s inclusive future.
Whāriki Drop-in Sessions: Whāriki hosted a drop-in session at the Park, providing pakihi Māori with invaluable support. Led by Kaiārahi/Business Navigator Shilane Shirkey, these sessions have been designed to give Māori businesses the opportunity to receive expert guidance, ensuring they’re equipped to handle the challenges of business ownership.
Volunteering Workshop The team at Volunteering Northland delivered a strategic planning workshop within Mahinga Innovation Centre for local community organisations. This hands-on session offered tools and insights to help volunteer groups craft concise, achievable plans, fostering stronger community engagement and sustainable growth.
This plethora of activity in September underscores Ngawha Innovation Park’s vital role as a space where community unity and business support come together to create lasting change for Northland.
